All are welcome to attend a party at the Moncton Public Library on Friday, July 13 to celebrate Northrop Frye's 100th birthday.

At the party, the Frye Festival will officially unveil the life-size bronze sculpture of Northrop Frye in front of the Moncton Public Library (Downing Street entrance).

Frye will sit on a park bench with an open book in his lap. All are invited to come have a seat with Frye and see the work of art that commemorates Moncton's most famous son.

'We're finally able to celebrate Frye's literary heritage by giving him a special, permanent place in front of the Moncton public Library,' says Dawn Arnold, Frye Festival chair.

A major donation by prominent Frye scholar Robert D. Denahm to the Moncton Public Library will also be announced at the celebration. Denham is donating his complete collection of books and objects that belonged to Frye, including manuscripts, first editions of his books and much more. The publicaccessible collection will be housed in the Heritage Room at the Moncton Public Library. A part of the collection will be displayed at the birthday party.

The festivities will commence at 11 a.m. There will be a barbecue, music, cake and poetry readings.
